Daily Devotion: October 1st 2021

Friday October 1st

Read: 2 Timothy 1:1-14

Learn: The apostle Paul wrote this second letter to his protégé Timothy shortly before he was killed by the Roman empire for his beliefs. Paul was in prison when he wrote this letter, and he knew death was likely. These circumstances make the words of verse 7 even more powerful. “For God gave us a spirit, not of fear, but of power and love and self-control.” Paul goes on to tell Timothy not to be ashamed of Jesus, but to guard the good deposit entrusted to him. What is the “good deposit”? It is the good news, the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We should heed Paul’s advice to Timothy. We should never fail to speak of the good things God has done for us and in our lives. The whole world needs to know the life changing truth of Jesus Christ! So how can we share it with them? How do we guard the good deposit entrusted to us? Through three ways:

1.We live a life that reflects Jesus, showing others who he is through our actions.
2.We tell others about our testimonies, showing them Jesus through these stories.
3.We invite people to church and other gatherings, showing them Jesus at work in these bodies of believers.

It is up to us not to waste what has been given to us. We must carry it on, sharing it with the world with boldness!

Reflect: Are you sharing the good news of Jesus on a regular basis? Are you living a life that reflects Jesus? Are you inviting people to church? Today, invite someone to come to church with you, knowing that they will experience Jesus among His people.

Pray: God, give me the opportunity to share you with others. Give me the opportunity to invite others to church this Sunday. I want to live a life that reflects who you are and what you have done for me. In Jesus name, Amen.
